This is Hong Kong by M. Sasek. This is Hong Kong, was one of Sasek's three favourite books (along with This is Venice and This is Edinburgh) because it was such an unusual book to do. The fun he had writing it shows in the illustrations: it is a particularly joyful book. A non-western location (like This is Israel) seems to suit Sasek's drawings and there are some wonderful illustrations of people and streets with ornate writing carefully copied.
